Coming home & Solomon's first week

Our time in hospital was a very stressful experience. Solomon didn't sleep much and thus neither did either of his parents as Phil was able to stay with me for two nights. On his third night there I was up for 6 hours feeding him continuously, as it took a long time for my milk to come in, and thus he became dehydrated and his temperature went to 38.6 degrees. So at 4am the Midwife came in and took him to give him a formula feed. It did the trick and his temp dropped dramatically within an hour or two to get back to normal. But he was very restless and a bit sick from the formula the next day. They kept us there for the next day, which was spent mostly on an express pump in between feeds. And we didn't get much sleep as I was found with a room mate, who had non stop visitors and therefore I had even less sleep during the day. The 4th night in hospital was very stressful too, with Solomon having another formula feed and walks around the hospital. He just never settled. On the Friday morning, after being told that I should stay an extra night and all i wanted to do was go home, I balled for about 2 hours and in the end, after discussions with other Midwives and doctors I decided that I wanted to be home and that is what I did. We left the hospital at 1pm on Friday & I can say now that that was the best thing that I could have done. That night, little Solomon slept for 4 hours straight...which is a record for him in his early life. All of us were dumbfounded by the experience. That night was a bit rough with a couple of short feeds and only little sleep. In the end I took him to bed with me. But since then the little trooper has learned how to sleep and so have I. Now he sleeps for 3 hours wakes for a change and a feed for 1 hour and is back asleep. Except for today, he woke at 8.30am, and hasn't quite gone back to sleep. But our nights are fantastic at the moment. He's been sleeping for more than 4 hours at a time. He is such a good little thing. He is feeding very well and at long last my milk has come in and is causing havocs when he cries or hasn't been fed for a while.
So that is about all for now. The little one is one week old today & we're loving him more and more everyday. He is just so cute!!!
